The Toddlers Town Philosophy

The demand of an urban city like Jakarta understandably create many new “challenges” for parents. Many of which who has to work or have other businesses to attend to. Hence why, Toddlers Town was created in the heart of Jakarta’s CBD in Mega Kuningan. Any parent, working near us or have something come up in the middle of the day, could peacefully drop off their child, knowing that the child will be taken care of and looked after by qualified professionals.

Toddlers Town is all about creating, immersing and helping a child to define the positive standards within themselves. In the earliest years of their life, children are learning about who they are, making sense of their worlds and this directly affects their progress in the years later; shaping their very own personalities. We believe in providing an all-around whole day children center that caters to both the parents and the children’s needs. Toddlers Town will cover the aspects of proper childhood development; social and emotional, speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, and providing an encouragement for positive and age-appropriate everyday problem-solving skills. Each aspect of Toddlers Town has been carefully planned for practicality and independence in a child’s everyday life situation.

Our Commitment

We understand that a child is the most valued being for any parent. Hence why, we work to provide a place that has been designed especially by focusing on safety in mind. We are also equipped with professional educators, affiliated psychologists and health-care attendant, who will most definitely keep every child best interest in mind.

Lastly, we believe that the children learns from everything around them. Living in Indonesia is a blessing, due to its rich cultures and diversity. It is our responsibility to introduce the beautiful country we are residing in, to create a sense of belonging for the children, so that in turn they will grow to love and take care of our heritage. What a toddler learns, shapes their beliefs and the person that they become. What better ways than to introduce this beautiful country of ours.

Our Educational Approach

The Montessori Method

The toddler years are the time when children use their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills to learn about and make sense of their world, in ways most meaningful and effective for them.

Maria Montessori was one of the first educators to recognize the first few years of a child’s life as critical to the development of personality and intellect. Toddlers are actively seeking out information, they learn quickly and easily, and are especially interested in demonstrating independence. Our programs and learning areas allow children to have the freedom to learn as much as they can, as quickly as possible in a supporting and safe environment.

The ‘Reggio Emilia’ Inspired Approach

The Reggio Emilia Approach is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. The approach emphasises hands-on discovery learning that allows the child to use all their senses and all their languages to learn. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.

The approach values certain values among others which led to a Reggio-Emilia inspired programs that are taught at Toddlers Town:

  • Children are capable of constructing their own learning. Hence, they are driven by their interest and curiosities to understand and learn more.
  • Children are communicators. They are encourage to utilize their knowledge of a language in order to investigate and know more while reflecting on their experience.
  • Children form an understanding of themselves and their place in the world through direct interactions with others. There is a strong focus on social collaboration, working in groups, where each child is an equal participant, having their thoughts and questions valued.
  • The environment in itself is a teaching tool. The environment is recognized for its potential to inspire the children to grow. An environment filled with natural light, order and beauty. Open spaces, where every material is considered for its purpose, every corner is ever-evolving to encourage children to delve deeper and deeper into their interests.
  • Adults act as mentor or guide directing the children to fully utilize their potential to learn and grow.
  • In Reggio- Emilia inspired settings, there is an emphasis on carefully displaying and documenting children’s thoughts and progression of thinking; valuing their thoughts and making sure it is visible in many different ways: photographs, transcripts of children’s thoughts and explanations, visual representations; all are designed to show the child’s progress.
  • “The Hundred languages of Children” – Probably the most well-known aspect of the Reggio Emilia Approach refers to the belief that children use many different ways to show their understanding and express their thoughts and creativity.
